Overview
feelnature campbase is a boutique campground tucked into the forested hills of Katsuura City in Chiba Prefecture, roughly 1.5 hours by car from central Tokyo. Opened in November 2023 after four years of careful development by a passionate camping enthusiast, the site offers 12 spacious plots ranging from 70 to 200 square meters, giving each group genuine privacy and room to spread out.
Set well away from main roads, the campground is remarkably quiet. A small stream winds through the property, and the dense tree canopy keeps summer temperatures pleasantly cool. From June through July, fireflies appear along the waterway, creating one of the more magical evening experiences available at any Kanto-region campground.
Facilities are a clear step above the average woodland site. The owner-designed restrooms feature heated toilet seats with bidet functions, and the cooking area provides clean counters and reliable water supply. Showers and a hot spring bath are available on-site, along with full electrical hookups at every pitch. The campground also welcomes pets and allows campfires, a combination that many sites in this part of Chiba do not offer.
Wildlife sightings are common here. Guests have reported seeing sika deer, Japanese muntjac, pheasants, rabbits, and several species of woodpecker and owl. For families with young children, the shallow stream provides a safe and entertaining play area during warmer months.
Convenience stores and supermarkets sit within a 15-minute drive, and the hot springs of Yoro Valley are reachable in about 25 minutes. The Katsuura coast, with its morning market, lighthouse, and seafood restaurants, is also a short drive away.
Whether you are a seasoned camper seeking solitude or a first-timer who values clean facilities and a natural setting, feelnature campbase delivers a refined outdoor experience in one of Chiba's most peaceful corners.
