Overview
Mangan Village Auto Campground is a unique trailer-house-centered camping facility in Minano Town, nestled in the upper Arakawa River area of Saitama Prefecture's Chichibu region. What distinguishes this campground from conventional tent-only sites is its fleet of American and wood-style trailer houses that provide the adventure of sleeping outdoors with the shelter and convenience of a small cabin.
The property features ten American-style trailers, six wood-style trailers, and one hybrid unit that blends a log-cabin exterior with a retro American interior. Each trailer comes equipped with a wooden roof deck furnished with tables, chairs, and a barbecue stand, so guests can grill under the stars without hauling their own equipment. Three open tent sites with elevated views round out the accommodation options for traditionalists who prefer canvas and stakes. A covered barbecue pavilion and a dog run add further versatility to the grounds.
The campground's signature perk is complimentary admission to Chichibu Onsen Mangan-no-Yu, a natural hot spring located right next door. After a day of hiking or barbecuing, guests can slip into the mineral-rich waters and let the mountain air do the rest. This combination of outdoor camping and onsen culture is a powerful draw, especially during the cooler months when a hot soak feels essential.
Chichibu itself is one of the Kanto region's most rewarding day-trip and weekend destinations. The area is famous for the Chichibu Night Festival in December, seasonal flower fields at Hitsujiyama Park, and the dramatic Nagatoro River gorge where visitors enjoy boat rides through rapids. From Hanazono Interchange on the Kanetsu Expressway, the campground is about a forty-minute drive, or visitors can reach Chichibu by Seibu Railway from Ikebukuro Station in roughly eighty minutes.
Mangan Village Auto Campground is an excellent base for exploring the Chichibu highlands while enjoying a distinctive trailer-house glamping experience paired with soothing onsen hospitality.
