Overview
Jonanjima Seaside Park Campground is the only auto-campground located within Tokyo's 23 special wards, offering an extraordinary urban camping experience right beside Tokyo Bay. Situated on a reclaimed island in Ota City, this unique facility lets you fall asleep to the sound of waves and wake up to panoramic views of planes descending into nearby Haneda Airport.
The campground features three distinct camping areas: the First Campground with 20 sites, the Second Campground with 18 sites, and 22 auto-camping sites where families can park directly beside their pitch. Five cooking stations and 42 outdoor fire pits provide ample space for barbecue gatherings. The park also includes a skateboard area and a dog run, making it a versatile destination for groups with varied interests.
Along the waterfront, visitors can stroll the third artificial sandy beach in Tokyo Port. While swimming and fishing are not permitted, the beach is perfect for sand play with children and leisurely walks with unobstructed views across the bay. On clear days, you can see the Tokyo Gate Bridge and the industrial skyline that gives this area its distinctive character.
Because the park sits in an industrial zone, there are no convenience stores or shops nearby, so campers should bring all food and supplies in advance. The campground operates on a full reservation system and closes for overnight stays during winter months from December through February. Auto sites cost 4,000 yen per night, while general tent sites are available from just 600 yen per adult, making this one of the most affordable camping options in central Tokyo.
For English-speaking visitors looking for an easily accessible outdoor escape without leaving the city, Jonanjima Seaside Park delivers a one-of-a-kind experience that blends aviation spectacle with bayside relaxation.
