Overview

PICA Chichibu is a large-scale camping resort set within Chichibu Muse Park in Chichibu City, Saitama Prefecture. Operated by the PICA Resort chain, the facility offers approximately ninety-eight cottages in various configurations alongside setup tent sites and free camping areas, making it one of the most versatile outdoor accommodation options in the Kanto region.

Cottage styles range from standard family units to themed concepts including the Starry Sky cottage for stargazing, TAKIBI cottages centered around campfire experiences, and dog-run-equipped units for pet owners. The Outdoor Auberge cottage provides an elevated cooking experience with Dutch ovens and premium ingredients. For those preferring traditional camping, both setup tent sites with pre-pitched tents and free tent sites are available.

A standout feature is the on-site public bath, Juon no Yu, available free of charge to all guests. Coin laundry facilities, communal kitchens, and clean toilet blocks are distributed throughout the grounds. Meals are primarily BBQ-based, prepared at each cottage's dedicated cooking space, with ingredient sets available for advance order.

Chichibu Muse Park itself is a sprawling recreation area with walking paths, a music hall, sports fields, and seasonal flower gardens. The surrounding Chichibu area is known for its dramatic mountain scenery, historic shrines including Chichibu Shrine and the thirty-four-temple Chichibu Pilgrimage, and the Nagatoro River gorge where visitors can enjoy boat rides through rapids.

Access from Tokyo takes about two hours. By car, take the Kanetsu Expressway to Hanazono IC, then Route 140 for roughly forty minutes. By train, the Seibu Chichibu Line runs from Ikebukuro, with a bus connection from Seibu-Chichibu Station taking about twenty minutes to the park. The Chichibu area also hosts the famous Chichibu Night Festival every December, one of Japan's top three float festivals.
