Overview

Gokiri, pronounced Itsukiri, is a luxury glamping resort set amid the rolling rice paddies and pastoral countryside of Isumi City in Chiba Prefecture. Opened in July 2023, this ambitious property reimagines outdoor hospitality through a concept built around five essential elements: village life, food, architecture, hot springs, and play.

The resort comprises 13 suite villas and 7 glamping dome tents spread across the landscape. The villas range from intimate retreats to expansive properties with two private onsen baths, a pool, sauna, and capacity for up to 13 guests, making them suitable for multi-family gatherings or special celebrations. The glamping domes come in 7-meter and 10-meter diameter configurations, each equipped with private onsen baths, all-weather dining areas, and private toilets, blurring the line between camping and resort accommodation.

Every room at Gokiri features a natural hot spring bath fed by the area's distinctive black mineral water, known locally as kuroyu. This dark, mineral-rich water is prized for its beauty and wellness benefits, and having private access to it from your own accommodation is a genuine luxury. Guests can choose between a multi-course dinner prepared from local seafood, mountain, and countryside specialties, or an outdoor BBQ experience showcasing the Boso Peninsula's rich produce.

The surrounding Isumi area is known for excellent fishing, peaceful rural scenery, and proximity to some of Chiba's best surf beaches. At night, the absence of urban light pollution reveals a canopy of stars best enjoyed from beside a crackling bonfire.

Approximately 90 minutes by car from central Tokyo, Gokiri offers English-speaking visitors a premium glamping experience that seamlessly weaves Japanese onsen tradition with contemporary outdoor luxury.
