Overview
6 Hundred Camp is an intimate hilltop campground perched at 600 meters elevation in Tokigawa Town, nestled within the Hiki District of Saitama Prefecture. The facility, officially known as "Seishin to Toki no Mori Tokian" (Spirit and Time Forest), offers a rare combination of mountain seclusion and surprisingly close proximity to the greater Tokyo area.
The campground features just four to five tent sites, each accommodating up to six guests, along with dome house sites equipped with electricity. This small capacity ensures a peaceful, uncrowded atmosphere where the sounds of birdsong and rustling cedar forest replace the noise of city life. On clear evenings, campers are rewarded with panoramic views of the Tokyo skyline twinkling in the distance, making it one of the few campgrounds where mountain tranquility meets urban night scenery.
An on-site cafe serves as the campground's check-in point and social hub, offering refreshments amid the mountaintop setting. Facilities are well-maintained and include separate men's and women's restrooms with bidet toilets, shower booths with soap and hair care products, a three-basin cooking station, and designated fire pit areas. WiFi is available throughout the grounds, and firewood can be purchased on-site.
Activities range from stargazing and nature observation to hiking, paintball, and craft experiences. The surrounding Tokigawa area is known for its cycling routes around Shiraishi Pass and Mount Dodaira, and several hot springs are accessible by car. Access is via the Kanetsu Expressway, approximately 50 minutes from Sakado-nishi Smart IC, or by train to JR Myokaku Station followed by a taxi ride. Weekend rates start around 8,000 to 10,000 yen per site, with weekday rates from 4,000 to 8,000 yen.
